As promised, here are the pictures of my kit. I did warn you, it's not the most impressive rig since this is my first drum set, and I've only been playing for like a month now lol. Not even every day, blah :(

Ludwig 5 piece below the cut + a homemade drumbalCollapse )

current mood: bored

Welcome all. I am your moderator mfunkx. This community has been created to cater to modern drumming and the techniques / styles associated with it. Feel free to join, there's no stupid application to fill out, and you don't have to make an introductory post if you don't want to. With any luck we will be able to attract the attention of modern drummers and form a nice group to share information and such.

Though it's not required, I'd like to take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Matt, I'm 19, I live on Long Island in NY. Admittedly, I've only started playing the drums recently (Guitar for four years, and synth programming for about the same time also). This past summer I bought a used Ludwig five piece set from my local Guitar Center. Sure it crushed the shit out of my wallet, but I've been in love ever since. A friend showed me the Meinl website which carries the Generation X line of cymbals, and the Drumbals created by Johnny Rabb for Meinl. After listening to the samples, I fell in love. Electronic style drumming on an analog kit is a blast, it's easy to pick up, but so far, pretty hard to get good at. When I purchased my kit, the hardware was seperate so I picked up a set of Zildjian starter cymbals. I didn't realize that the pack came with a ten inch splash cymbal. Two nuts and a bolt later, I had a homemade drumbal. Sounds pretty decent, but of course when I get more cash, I'd like to buy the real thing.

Just wanted to say hi, break the communities cherry, and hopefully within the next couple of months membership will increase :)

I'll post pictures of my kit soon (even though it's really nothing special :P)
